The land through which it passed was taxed for the purpose. |

Vermont, "spotted fever" and tuberculosis, many more
Vermonters migrated here. |

A few of the pioneers came because they had
lost their fortunes as a result of the War of 1812; but the majority
came because they wanted land and hoped to make life easier and happier
