1960-1968

 

1960 The Summer Recreation Program became a cooperative effort of the Colton-Pierrepont Central School and the Town of Colton.

Diamond National Corporation dedicated its Tree Farm Program on "The Plains" above South Colton.
1964 Miss Gertrude Kraft was honored for 50 years of service to Hepburn Library, Colton.
1965 Sunday Rock was moved to allow for widening Route #56. Land was given to the Town by Hilda Swift for a suitable and lasting site.
1967 Work was begun on the proposed State Campsite at Campbell's Point with the closing of the sand road along the river, known as Campbell's Point Road.

Sno Skippers Inc. formed.
1968 Town of Colton Employees organized into Local #687, International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Later in the year they became members of the New York State Retirement System.
