Grievance
"Grievance Day" is held one day a year, typically in June, by the Board of Assessment Review in regards to the tentative assessment roll. An assessment roll represents all of the Colton and South Colton residents' assessment values that translate to their amount owed for school and land taxes.
Typically at the beginning of May, the tentative assessment roll is published. Once available, the Assessor will advertise in the official newspaper for the Town, four open dates and times to meet with the Assessor in order to discuss the results of the tentative assessment, and it will be published on the Town's website. The formal date of the BAR Board Meeting will also be published in the same notice.
Following the BAR Board Meeting, the Assessor will finalize the tentative assessment roll and submit to St. Lawrence County, the final roll typically becomes available in July. Both the tentative and final rolls will be published on the this page, as well as the Notices Page, once they're available.
