Notary Public, copying, and scanning services are provided to any Town of Colton resident free of charge, both the Clerk and Deputy are able to perform these services. Excessive requests or requests from residents outside the Town of Colton are able to receive these services, but may be assessed a fee.

Using this easy tool below will allow us to gather damages quickly and efficiently and help guide what necessary next steps there may be for business and home owners. Please push the link below out to as many residents that you can and post on social media. This will give us a list for the damage assessment team to go door to door. Home owners really need to file a claim with their home owners insurance and get that denial letter. That will help them with funds from FEMA.

The New York State Department of Financial Services will on the campus of SUNY Potsdam ONLY on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Staff will be deployed to SUNY Potsdam to provide insurance help to residents and businesses affected by the flooding and sever weather. Due to heavy damage impacting homes and properties, Department of Financial Services personnel will be staffing a resource center to assist residents and business owners with insurance-related questions.
After contacting insurance companies, residents can also get assistance with insurance information regarding policy coverage for losses and suggestions on documenting their losses and safeguarding their property by calling the Department’s Disaster Hotline at 800-339-1759. From August 12th – 16th, the hotline will now include extended evening hours and be open from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM to help New Yorkers impacted by the remnants of Hurricane Debby.
