Art around town

'Art Around Town' is a collaborative venture of the Tourism & Beautification Committee with the Colton-Pierrepont Central School Art Department as further explained in the update (click to open).
One of the murals created by school art students for the town's 2015 Winterfest Weekend is a painted barn quilt (click to see) now mounted on the exterior of the Colton Museum facing the river.  A barn quilt is simply a replica of a single fabric quilt square painted on sign-quality medium density overlay (MDO) plywood and mounted on the exterior of a barn or other building to reflect the rich heritage of the area.  The town and school are following guidelines (click to read & print) developed by a community group in Hammond, NY promoting a Hammond Barn Quilt Trail.  Anyone interested in learning more about the town's barn quilt project and others in the area should contact Ruth McWilliams (315-262-2450).
